Antique Victorian warp printed floral silk costume. Late 19th century interpretation of an 18th century robe à l'anglaise. 3-piece set includes floral bodice, floral petticoat, and blue moire petticoat. Center front hook & eye closure through bodice. 3/4 length sleeves with net lace ruffle cuffs. Square neckline with attached lace collar. Full gathered skirt worn in the polonaise style with interior ribbon ties. Inverted pleats at back skirt. Warp printed silk taffeta fabric features poppy flowers in shades of red, pink, & blue on a light pink ground. Blue silk moire fabric reads 'CONCORDIA GROS DE PARIS' on the selvage.
Fair antique condition. Ensemble is fragile and would best be suitable for study, inspiration, or display. Light perspiration staining has caused tearing around both armholes on sleeves. Shoulder caps on sleeves shattering from being stored on hanger. Water damage stain on front bodice. Front bodice hook & eyes need reinforced - 2 are missing. Right panel of skirt has water damage near hip and at the hem. Shattering and tearing where water damage is present. Pinholes at back of hem on skirt. A few small stains throughout both petticoats. Tear near side seam closure on floral petticoat. Both petticoats are missing waist closures.
